JULY 2017

TOOHEYS NEWCASTLE RUGBY LEAGUE WOMEN IN LEAGUE ROUND

In alignment with the National Rugby League the local Tooheys Newcastle Rugby League is celebrating the Women in League round.

In 2017 Newcastle Rugby League is focused on highlighting our inaugural Hunter Petroleum Products Ladies League Tag competition.  All district competition HPP league tag matches this weekend will be played before first grade.  From these matches 16 players, two from each district club, will be selected to participate in a high performance league tag skills session conducted by the Rugby League Academy.

Founder of the Rugby League Academy, Matt Lantry said “We’re really excited for the Rugby League Academy to be involved with the Women in League Round”.  “We’re passionate about developing the game and seeing the evolution of the women’s competition and elite pathways is encouraging.”

Pam Franklin, Football Operations Coordinator of Newcastle Rugby League said “Our partnership with the Rugby League Academy will offer a unique opportunity for our female players to continue to develop their league tag skills.”

The Women in League round is a great opportunity to also acknowledge the behind the scenes work from many of the hard working women within the local Newcastle RL community.
