With the 2018 season being one of the closest in recent memory, the much anticipated 2019 home and away season will kick off on the 13th April. The first 3 rounds see’s two coalfields derbies and a replay of last season’s Grand Final between South Newcastle and Lakes United which will take place at Townson Oval on 5th May. Both clubs have new coaches for 2019 season – Andrew ‘Bobcat’ Ryan will be at the helm for the Lions whilst Glen Agland takes over at the Seagulls.
Next year’s competition will see two stand alone representative rounds. On, the 11th May the Newcastle Rebels will play a representative team from the NSWRL Ron Massey Cup competition. From that match a with a combined NSWRL Pioneers team will be selected in play the Queensland Rangers on the weekend of the 29th-30th June.
Prior to the commencement of the home and away season, a Newcastle All Stars v Indigenous All Stars match will be played on the 30th March. All Stars day will event will a day full of football, family entertainment run in conjunction with community festival event. Further details of the event will be confirmed early in 2019.
