Newcastle Rugby League Two Newcastle Rebels teams will clash with Australian representative teams at Maitland Sportsground on Thursday, 3rd October. The ladies’ league tag match will commence at 6pm while the men’s Newcastle Rebels will play the Combined Affiliated States team at 7pm. In the ladies’ league, the Newcastle Rebels open age tag team will play the Central Coast tag team who have previously claimed the Country Rugby League Championship three times. “It’s great to see the ladies tag league thriving in NSW,” Matt Harris, CEO of Newcastle Rugby League, said. “It shows the strong position women’s rugby league has in Newcastle and NSW. There is some extraordinary talent and a lot of support behind both teams.” The Newcastle Rebels men’s team will play the Combined Affiliated States men’s team, comprised of state representative players from Victoria, South Australia, Western Australia and Northern Territory. The Newcastle Rebels team is made up of Newcastle Rugby League first grade representative players. Adam Hall, the 2019 Emerging Rebels coach, will manage the senior Newcastle Rebels team. “It is a privilege to coach the Rebels and it’s great to see all eight district clubs represented in the team,” Adam Hall said. “There are a lot of young players who performed well in the 2019 season who have been given this great opportunity to play at a higher level.” Both teams will train at Charlestown’s St. John Oval on Wednesday at 6pm to prepare for the games.
